Corona in Cape Verde Islands?
Suddenly, things developed very quickly. Europe announced that they would close the borders. Our holiday guests had to fly home earlier than scheduled. I love to remember my last group of hikers before the state of emergency. We enjoyed the days in Cape Verde until the last moment. Maybe see you again sometime?
A few days later, the first Corona case was announced in Cape Verde. Today, on April 12, 2020, there are 8 positive tested Corona cases on the islands.
Since March 29, Cape Verde has also been in an exceptional state.
Good cooperation with the hotels and accommodations
In state-ordered emergency situations due to war or pandemics, insurance companies do not cover travel cancellations. There is no uniform law in Europe regarding the cancellation conditions in the event of force majeure.
“No ta djunto” – we stick together: a Cape Verdean saying that has proven to be true in Corona crisis
In the Corona crisis, our longstanding, close and personal cooperation with hotels, guest houses and private pensions pays off.
We all want to continue working together after the crisis and do the same good services for our guests as before.
As for our April guests, who unfortunately could not start into their booked holiday, we managed to rebook the reservations to another date or even cancel free of charge. This is in contrast to the usual cancellation conditions and for the benefit of our guests.
How does it go on?
Nobody knows exactly, what the coming weeks and months will look like. According to the general assessment, the situation is likely to ease and gradually normalize in the foreseeable future and solutions will be introduced to make traveling as safe as possible again.
You can currently book Charter flights to Cape Verde with travel dates from the beginning of June. TAP Portugal plans to offer flights from Europe via Lisbon to Cape Verde again in July.
Cape Verde: Flexible booking for 2020
Would you love to spend your holidays in Cape Verde in 2020, but are you concerned about Corona?
Book with us at reduced risk!
We at VIP Tours Cabo Verde will be happy to make it easier for you. As a Cape Verdean on-site tour operator, we cannot pay back money in the event of a short-term travel cancellation that is beyond our control, but we are happy to offer you more beneficial conditions in case of a rebooking:
All the round trip programs with start in 2020, that have been booked by our guests directly via VIP Tours Cabo Verde, can be rebooked up to 30 days before the start of the trip (subject to availability) to a later date, usually up to 12 months after the date of issue of your Cape Verde domestic flight tickets. In this case VIP Tours Cabo Verde will cover the rebooking fee. You may only pay a possible price difference for your flights or hotels, should these prices increase until your new travel date.
In the event of a shorter-term, corona-related rebooking, we will also personally ensure that you change your travel date as low-cost as possible. The satisfaction of our guests is very important to us!
In case you cannot commit to a new date right away, we will be happy to send you a voucher instead that you can use for your next trip.
Covid 19 Cabo Verde – Official Cape Verde website. Here you will find the continuously updated statistics of the confirmed Covid 19 cases, broken down by the individual islands.
Because of the current situation
we temporarily recommend not to travel to the ISLAND of BOA VISTA.
The ferry and flight connections between the islands are currently closed, with the exception of goods transport, so that the cross-island spread of the virus is virtually eliminated.
